Recommended #1: Anistil
Score: 96/100

We spoke with the makers of this product after reviewing a few others. In addition to this product, a new ear drop will soon be available from this company as well. Anistil contains vital ingredients to help reduce the inflammation caused by ear infections.

Recommended #2: Mesosilver
Score: 88/100

This is our second choice because the research behind this product is not as established as the alternatives. The product is more of a "cure all" that is not really geared at one specific health issue.

What Causes Ear Infections

Ear infections can be caused by various factors, here are the different types of ear infections that may occur in children and adults:

  1. External Ottis (Swimmers Ear)- Upper respiratory tract infections usually precede these types of ear infections. The affected area is in the ear canal, extending from the eardrum to the outside of the ear, and becomes swollen and inflamed.

  2. Ottis Media (Middle Ear Infection)- The area that is infected is behind the ear drum where air pressure is regulated. Bacteria and viruses get into this space which causes inflammation and the build up of pressure. This type of infection usually causes a fever and a throbbing pain in the ear.

Ear infections often become a chronic problem due to the anatomy of the ear.

Research & Alternative Solutions

To help reduce the severity of the ear infection and speed up recovery, use supplements that contain these ingredients:

  • Vitamin B-Complex- Essentially all of the B-Vitamins are crucial for healing and boosting the immune system.

  • Zinc- Studies have shown that children with ear infections are deficient in zinc. This nutrient is helpful for boosting the immune system.

  • Larch Arabinogalactan- Has been recently used in studies for children suffering from Ottis media. Researchers are recording results of faster recover times and less chance of recurring infections when using this supplement.

  • Ear Drops- Garlic and Mullein containing ear drops have been shown to have a positive effect on ear infections when applied every few hours.

Children between the ages of 6-12, we recommend using half of the recommended daily intake of the supplements above. For children under the age of six, we recommend using 1/4 of the recommended daily intake.
